August Update
Hello all,

Alex here. We've not been around much due to health situations that have come up this summer, but we are now back on track. Even though we haven't been terribly present online, we have been very busy in the real world. Here's some quick notes on what we've been doing.

Early in the summer we received some huge clothing and underwear donations from two massive rural community garage sales - The Gigantic Greely Garage Sale and Kemptville's massive Hay Day. I got to give it to the rural communities of Ottawa, they pooled massive amounts of clothing and made sure they went to the needy. Gladly, we were the group that they turned to to help disperse the clothing directly to the homeless and needy. We gathered over a hundred garbage bags of clothing and sorted them and then distributed them to the various shelters and homes that we support that were in need. We filled up their storage! Special thanks to Eric and Lynne Culley who graciously let us use significant parts their house for storage and sorting spaces.

As a result of our success stocking the shelters we would like to announce that we will no longer be accepting clothes. We are purely concentrating on underwear and undergarments as that need is never ending. For those of you interested in making clothing donations to the homeless, we strongly urge you to drop them off directly at a shelter. We'll be glad to provide you with some direction if you need it.

We would also like to thank Meera and Aneel for their great donation of clothings on behalf their co-op community.

Finally, it is my pleasure to introduce our huge fall fundraising event. We are partnering up with a group of local artists, Artemisia, to put on the TOP DRAWERS Art Show. The theme of the show is underwear. I'm sure there will be quite a few *cheeky* pieces of art! (sorry, couldn't help myself) The show will be held on the last weekend in September at the Irish Canadian Cultural Centre (formerly St. Brigid's Catholic Church in the market area). More news and info will be coming out. Any interested artists are referred to Marion Hall at topdrawers@rogers.com. We are really excited about this show. It's going to be a blast and it'll be really interesting to see what the artists have come up with. Hopefully, we'll see you all there.

I hope that covers all the bases, briefly; and that all your summers are going well.

Hey there fellow Panty Raiders and guests!

Alex here, co-founder and vice-president. Here's a little update with what we've been up to:

We attended and helped out at the Gigantic Greely Garage Sale a few weeks back. Not only did we get a TON of clothing donations but also we got to meet so many nice and interesting people out there in Greely. What's even better is so many of those kind people came and checked out our new webpage and many also contacted us with donations!!

The Greely donations have filled up our living room in our apartment and have taken over our downtown storage space. Special thanks to Eric and Lynne Culley for providing us with space and waiting patiently as we distribute it to those who need it.

So far with the donations we have helped a group of women at a new residential house, a young family with twins on the way, and several of our more desperate shelters. Thank you to all who have supported us.

The Capital Panty Raid will continue soon. Come back to find out where we'll be raiding next.
